Officers from the Westport Police Department were dispatched at approximately 1:15 p.m. on March 27, where there was a report of a man asleep at the wheel with his car idling outside an Easton Road home.
Police said the officers were able to identify the vehicle on the eastbound side of the roadway, and after several attempts, were able to get the attention of the driver, later identified as Westport resident Justin Arcune.
While speaking with Arcune, officers said that they detected the smell of alcohol on his breath, and directed him outside of the vehicle. Once outside, Arcune failed several Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, leading to his arrest.
Arcune was charged with a misdemeanor count of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Bail was initially set at $500, but Arcune was ultimately released on his own recognizance on a “promise to appear.” Arcune is due back in Norwalk Justice Court on Tuesday, April 3 to answer the charge.
